On Monday, April 17 a Faithful Footprints Retrofit Tour was held at Glen Morris United Church, having been most grateful recipients of the program.
The photo above shows Shirley Copeland of Brantford, who is a member of the Kairos organization, who will report back to their local area group about our renovations and carbon footprint energy reduction. KAIROS is a joint venture ecumenical program administered by the United Church of Canada. Ten participating member denominations and religious organizations are involved in the development and delivery of their shared work. Margaret Fleury and John Graham (also shown in photo) provided attendees with information about the 3 Renovation Phases, gave a guided tour of our facility, and then showed a PowerPoint presentation outlining the work involved from 2016 to 2021.
John shared that in 2022 the church heating cost was $4,630 using the new heat pump systems and propane furnaces installed as part of the Faithful Footprints program. The average propane cost was $0.73 per litre. Fuel oil costs for the same time period would have been $1.85 per litre resulting in a cost of $10,800. Therefore, in 2022 alone the church saved over $6,000 in heating cost.
This is definitely worth sharing and celebrating!
