The wind died down and the clouds broke, with sunlight shining on a good crowd at the annual Glen Morris Community BBQ on Sunday, August 11 at Centennial Hall, Dunbar Street.
With the support of the Glen Morris Lions, who supplied their barbecuing prowess and all the sausages, burgers and hotdogs as well as the Glen Morris Horticulture Society who provided delicious salads and desserts, it was a delectable summer feast.
Don Douglas did a fabulous job a MC and shared the mic with Janice Little and Margaret Fleury who shared information on the 'Movie Night in the Glen' and Horticulture events, respectively
Our Faith Formation Committee organized some great family activities including the Grand Kindness River art project which saw young and old paint rocks with a connection to the river or inspirational quotes. The project will start its journey at the Glen Morris Library and travel every week to a new Glen Morris Horticulture community garden. It will come to rest at the church on our anniversary weekend.
Donna Jarvie won the Chocolate Skor brittle by guessing how many chocolate chips were in this sweet treat. Donna guessed 463 and the total was 471. She won the brittle and graciously put it out on the dessert table for all to try.
Mayor Bailey as well as Brant OPP were also in attendance.
A great evening of community fellowship and we thank members of our Faith Formation Committee of Janice Little, Sue Harkness and Jen Westbrook for their contribution to this fun event.
