Welcome to this week’s edition of the Passing the Peace newsletter. Thank you to all of you who have been reading along these past several months. I hope this letter finds you well - enjoying the warmth of the summer sun and the peacefulness of a summer breeze.
Coffee Hour starts at 10 am
Worship at 10:30 am
Thanks to the new possibilities of Zoom, we are continuing to draw our circle wide during worship this August. We are excited to be joined by Knox United Church throughout the entire month and will be joined by Windermere United Church on August 16th. I encourage you to extend this spirit of hospitality even further and feel free to invite a friend or two to join us for worship. The more the merrier!
Worship for August will be held online through zoom using this link, and can be joined by phone: +1 647 558 0588, enter 84186611070# when prompted.
A very special thank you to all of those who are finding new and creative ways to bless the church with their time, talent, and treasure. Your support is what makes it possible for us to continue thriving as a church, even in the midst of these challenging times. Please click here for more information on how you can support the church financially. If you are interested in offering leadership during worship, please be in touch with Michiko about reading scripture or any other idea you have in mind!
As always, I remain very grateful for ways we can stay in touch - especially as people continue to physically distance during this pandemic. You are more than welcome to call or send me an email or a text.
As of this week, I am starting to plan in-person socially distanced visits. Please be in touch if you would be interested in having me visit your front yard or porch in the next little while.
As promised, here is the link of Peterson Toscano using theatre to explore the ways Joseph’s story is one of transgressing gender norms. You can read more about Toscano’s work here.
Solidarity with Six Nations - Click here for more information on the situation I mentioned during the Territorial Acknowledgement on August 9. May we all continue to deepen our knowledge about treaties and Indigenous peoples on whose land we live and worship.
Many thanks to Ingrid for letting me know about this video. Take a listen to voices from across the country uniting in prayer.
The Lord bless you and keep you
May His face shine upon you and be gracious to you
The Lord turn His face toward you and give you peace.
Yours in Christ,
Michiko
