As Glen Morris United Church continues to celebrate this wonderful milestone year, we are focusing our attention on the ‘big weekend’ Friday, September 27 to Sunday, September 29 and invite you to save the dates! We also request that you RSVP to glenmorris.uc@gmail.com  by September 15 for any or all of the following events.

This weekend will feature a ‘Heritage Meet & Greet’ on Friday, September 27, 7:00-9:00pm where all can gather with family, friends, new and former members, past ministers, and this community. With family tree and historical displays being featured, wine, beer, non-alcoholic punch, as well as cheese and crackers will be available at this free evening.

The Allison Lupton Band will take centre stage on Saturday, September 28, 7:00-9:00pm. Acclaimed singer-songwriter, flutist and multiple CFMA Traditional Singer of the Year nominee, Allison Lupton will enchant listeners with story songs and tunes that take you away to another time. Allison is joined by her band of all-stars featuring Canadian and U.S. champion fiddler Shane Cook, Canadian step dancing champion and guitarist Kyle Weymouth and bassist Joseph Phillips. Tickets are $40 each and available at glenmorris.uc@gmail.com. Only 100 available - get yours soon!

The 175th Anniversary Worship and Lunch will be held on Sunday, September 29 with special music by the choir starting at 10:00am followed by a wonderful service at 10:30am led by Glen Morris’ own Rev. Michiko Bown-Kai who has been the permanent, full-time minister since 2021. Special guest minister will be Rev. Dr. Morgan Bell, a doctoral candidate in systematic theology at the University of Toronto (Emmanuel College) and serving as a minister at St. Andrew’s United Church in downtown Toronto. This celebratory service of worship will be followed by a free catered lunch, featuring pulled pork on a bun, salads, cake and beverages.

All events are happening at Glen Morris United Church and with most events free of charge, donations will be gratefully accepted and proceeds from the weekend will go to the Canadian Foodgrains Bank which this church community has supported for 30 years. It will also help support the ongoing work of the church.
