Dear Glen Morris Friends and Community,

Did you decide to give something up for Lent? Was there a new spiritual practice you felt called to explore? As we draw closer to Holy Week, I hope that you have given yourself the gift of carving out time for a spiritual practice or two. Perhaps more important than having done anything perfectly, is the idea that it is always a good time to turn to God.

My Lent has been about seeking out the small and familiar practices. I wrote a poem today, at the insistence/inspiration of a friend of mine who strongly believes that poetry ought to be a discipline everyone takes as seriously as prayer or working out or eating well. It was a helpful reminder how talking to God works best when we take the time to really listen to our own hearts as well. Earlier this week there was a moment carved out to journal by candlelight. Tuesday night I sunk my hands into a loaf of sourdough and thought about God as the mystery that leavens all of Creation.

May the peace of Christ be with you in your Lenten journey, inviting big and small moments of transformation and renewal,

Yours in Christ,

Rev Michiko
