We frequently refer to Glen Morris United Church as our 'faith community' and I like that connection. But I also like the idea of us being a 'faith family' within a larger community. Glen Morris, yes, then Brant, Ontario, Canada, North America - the world!
The Stanford Social Innovation Review shares "First and foremost, community is not a place, a building, or an organization; nor is it an exchange of information over the Internet. Community is both a feeling and a set of relationships among people. People form and maintain communities to meet common needs.
Members of a community have a sense of trust, belonging, safety, and caring for each other. They have an individual and collective sense that they can, as part of that community, influence their environments and each other."
As Glen Morris United Church, we are also part of the community of Glen Morris, and this year we are taking an active role in the Community BBQ being held at Centennial Hall on Sunday, August 14, 6:00pm. We will have an opportunity to share a little about what we offer as a community church and our Faith Formation Committee has organized some great activities for all ages!
So whether you live in Glen Morris or are a part of our 'faith community', we invite you join us for this wonderful annual gathering.
And as I ponder our place in the global community, I share this beautiful video created by Taboo and the Pachango Indian Reservation in Temecula, CA - "One World - We Are One".
