Dear beloved Passing the Peace readers,
Sending you all the warmest greetings as I look forward to another Sunday worshiping in the Glen. Remember, for those of you joining online and in-person, our Summer worship begins at 10 am!
I’m going to keep this week’s letter brief as I’m writing this on Thursday night and I am itching to get out the door and see if there are any blackcaps (those delicious dark raspberry-looking ones!) to be enjoyed. This week’s spiritual practices for me have been all about moving slow and appreciating the small miracles around me.
First, I once saw a sticker that said “Berry picking is a prayer” and I loved it. Part wonder, part gratitude - spending time amongst the leaves is a delightful way to pray.
Second, I’m going to attempt to make sourdough bread for the second time ever (first time unsupervised by a workshop leader!). If I’m successful you might just get to taste some fresh baked bread soon, especially if you get in touch about a porch visit sometime! I once read this article by Sophie Strand, and since then I've been pondering over this idea of mystery and connection that we can learn from observing things as common as yeast making bread dough rise. And IF it just so happens that my attempt at making bread doesn’t turn out this time, I can always remind myself that play and failure are some of the more important parts of a healthy spiritual life!
Peace be with you friends,
May your week bring you unexpected sweetness and wonder,
Yours in Christ,
Rev Michiko
