Peace be with you Glen Morris,

Thank you very much to all of you who have wished me a happy birthday in the past week! I had a delightful weekend celebrating with friends and loved ones, doing some of my favourite things -dancing and spending time in nature.

Summertime is here! Congratulations to the students who have just completed another year of school. Best of luck to all of the farmers eagerly awaiting enough rain in the midst of this intense heat. I hope that each of you have the opportunity to celebrate and recharge during this season of abundance and brightness.

Here’s what I currently have on my Summer Bucket List:

  1. Read Gathering Moss by Robin Wall Kimerer. Spend time in nature observing moss, enjoying how soft it is, and reflecting on what I’m reading. Pause often to marvel at the depth of beauty and diversity in creation.
  2. Compete at the Cambridge Scottish Festival on July 15. Stay hydrated while dancing in an outfit mostly made out of wool and velvet. Give thanks for my body that enables me to dance and the community that has supported my love of dance over the years.
  3. Eat something from my garden. Say grace beforehand that acknowledges the small and important role I play in being part of the Creator’s creation.

When the summer sunshine doesn’t seem to reflect your own gloomy or grey feelings, may the Peace of Christ be with you,

When simple summer joys like fresh local strawberries, gentle summer breezes, and cottage sunsets bring delight and joy, may the Peace of Christ be with you,

Yours in Christ,

Rev Michiko
