Dear Glen Morris,

This week my ministry brought me to Glen Morris Public School’s Fun Fair on Wednesday night. One thing they didn’t teach me in seminary is how to successfully organize blindfolded pudding eating contests but I’m happy to say it was a night filled with laughter, teamwork, and a few faces completely covered in pudding.

As a minister, I believe that I am called to serve not only the members of the church, but the entire community to which the church belongs. A thriving church is one that seeks to be in service to all those in need and that nurtures community beyond the church walls. I love these opportunities when I get a chance to meet my new neighbors and I am certainly looking forward to more events like this in the future. If you are reading this and can think of an event you think I should attend, please feel free to be in touch!

As I’m trying my best to plan ahead for some vacation time this August, I’d like to invite some people to act as guest writers for Passing the Peace while I’m away. If you’d like to share where you’ve seen the Spirit at work in your life or a piece of beauty that has brought you joy then please be in touch at michikobownkai@gmail.com.

In responding to any invitation to be silly, to play, and delight in laughter, may the peace of Christ be with you.

In all the ways we love and care for this community, may the peace of Christ be with you,

Yours in Christ,

Rev Michiko
