Dear Glen Morris United,
I still haven’t found the space to fully piece together what I feel is important to say right now about the presidential election in the US, especially what that means for us as a church here in Glen Morris, Ontario but I imagine that many of you are wandering and seeking prayers and guidance for an uncertain future. I have appreciated the thoughts of American theologians such as Diana Butler Bass, Nadia Bolz-Weber, and Walter Brueggeman. I also find faith in knowing we are not new to this work of understanding the relationship between faith and our place in showing up and shaping the world we believe God is calling us to create.

Tobe Nwigwe broke my heart open with the most beautiful song Make It Home that he released in the midst of the large social reckoning around the pervasiveness of anti-Black police brutality in the US a few years back. This newer video is so powerful it feels like being called to worship wherever you are when you see it.

A few years back I had a conversation and time of prayer of Rev Capt Seaton Brachmayer, a Presbyterian chaplain in the Canadian Armed Forces. As we prepare to mark Remembrance Day during worship this Sunday, I invite you to watch the full video here:
May the peace of Christ be with us, in our hearts, amongst all nations, uniting across all differences, tearing down all borders and walls of injustice, as we reflect this week (and every week) on the need for peace.
Yours in Christ,
Michiko
